This profile is a few years old. It will be re-written when I reach this character's death in my novel notes.
Zhang Fei was the sworn brother of Liu Bei and Guan Yu and one of the Five Tiger Generals. Before meeting Liu Bei and Guan Yu, he was a wine-seller and a butcher. His most spectacular battle was his valiant stand at Long Slope Bridge in Chang Ban, where he issued a challenge so fiercely it's said one of Cao Cao's generals died on the spot. At about age 54 he was assasinated in his sleep by disgruntled subordinates.
Strong like Guan Yu but sorely lacking in tact and political finesse, his love of wine was often the cause of his losses. Zhang Fei is usually pegged as too brash and hot-headed, but he was as courageous as either of his brothers and worked hard to protect Shu.
