Wade-Giles Romanization
There are several different ways to write Chinese using Latin (English) letters. Dynasty Warriors uses Pinyin; older editions of Three Kingdoms use Wade-Giles. The systems differ markedly, and you may have trouble recognizing characters. The table below should help you sort it out.
Numbers in the first column indicate tone. There are some discrepancies in the Wade-Giles romanizations because I am unsure of the tone. Also available is a more complex table with all romanizations, and Pinyin with diacritics instead of numbers.
1 Some ladies' names are given as follows: (Surname) Name in Dynasty Warriors. In the novel, the female characters are generally called "Lady (Surname)."
