I LIIIIIIVE.
I figured three months was as long as I could stay away from the site before people started asking me if I was dead. I was wrong. Only took two months. But I stayed away three months anyway because, gee, long vacations are nice. If you want to blame anyone for my long absence, blame Koei and Square-Enix. DW5:XL is fantastic, by the way. Love it.
Caught up on about 6 months of fanart and wallpaper submissions in this update. Wallpapers from Elwen Skye and Mr. Mengde, plus so much new fanart I hesitate to list it all: KeU, Falk and Lefu, MaChaChao, Ritsuka Yoshida, Lee, Chibichan (who has a new yaoi pic up too), Seraphia, Zhang Mei, Lorena, Satoita, RuiXiang, and Hushicho. See? Even if I don't respond to your e-mails, or update the site regularly, I at least don't lose things so I can update eventually. No need to worry.
Lu Bu's profile has been rewritten. It is much longer than I'd like it to be, but I don't think there's much I can do about it. Contemplating the necessary length of Cao Cao and Liu Bei's profiles makes me quiver with abject horror.
Anyway, Internet Explorer users will notice the submenus in the menu on the left don't appear anymore. The submenus appear now only for Firefox users, and they appear on mouse hover. It's not that I have anything against users of IE, I just don't like coding hacks for IE.

No one's going to pay any attention to anything else once I say it, so before I do, I'd like to thank Jeanine and Shan. You guys are awesome and I could not thank you enough for your generosity. I owe you delicious baked goods.
With that out of the way... LOOK! DYNASTY WARRIORS 5 DATABOOK SCANS OMGWTFBBQ.
August 30, 2005
All I have for you in this update is Zhu Rong's profile. Fanart and linkage will have to wait.
Hurricane Katrina, one of the most powerful storms ever to hit the United States, has devastated Louisiana and Mississippi. Please consider donating blood or money (even just a couple bucks!) to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, America's Second Harvest, or AmeriCares. I don't know about you, but I'm giving the $30 I had set aside for Dynasty Warriors ADVANCE. If you have nothing to give, please at least pass the word on.
August 10, 2005
Obviously, I'm messing around with the site. Things will look funny. Some things may even break. Pay it absolutely no mind and just go about your business now. Move along, move along...
Koei's press release about DW5:XL, in case you missed it.
Oh yeah, and Ling Tong's profile is up. Wonder of wonders.
August 3, 2005
Koei Corp.'s made a press release about DW5:XL, and I'm too preoccupied to update the DW5:XL page, so just go read it for yourself, you lazy bastards. It sounds like teh nifty.
Something spiffy is coming to the Image Gallery soon. And, eventually, Lu Bu's profile.
July 26, 2005
New fanart from Lorena, TiRaMiSu, Lu Xiang'er, Chibichan, CBY, Zhang Mei, Jakusa, and kamisuka. New yaoi from The Saika Mercenary, Hushicho, Melanie, and Lorena. New cosplay pics from Comic-Con 2005, Anime Expo 2005, Anime North 2005, digikoomi, and H.P.Tsai. New wallpapers from gdtarrant, Sam M., Sarah W, and Angel. Also, we have a Timeline page now, which, along with Lifespans, is under Miscellaneous. The Heights and Ages page has been corrected. The Games pages for DW1, DW2, and DW3 are all up. Yale romanizations are up for the style names on the Pronunciation page. Lu Bu's profile may or may not go up sometime soon.
Try not to get used to all these frequent updates. I don't know what's gotten into me. I'll lose my World Champion Procrastinator title if this keeps up.
July 22, 2005
Diao Chan's profile has been rewritten — still working on Lu Bu. Writing in the past tense when you really want to write in the present is frustrating. -.- After Lu Bu will be Sun Ce and Yuan Shao, but that won't be for a long time, 'cause you know how slow I am.
All of the Personality Quizzes work buuuut the DW5 characters still don't have result graphics. I swear to God I'm working hard on that. It's taking so long because I'm re-doing all the graphics. I suck so hard at image editing. It's really quite pathetic.
I've done a lot with the Name Information section, and I'm not quite done with it. The most important change is that I've scrapped those silly old prounciations I used to have, and just put up the Yale romanizations. Yale was designed to be easy to pronounce, so I'm going with that. I'll be putting up Cantonese Yale, but I'd like to have that list checked over by someone who knows Cantonese first. Also plan to put up the Yale style names, so that people have some help pronouncing the style names too. I've added the Japanese style names to the Japanese Names page, which makes looking up Ikkitousen characters much quicker. GIFs of the style name hanzi are finally up. Make the tables more user-friendly in all sorts of ways.
Jeanine has given us the Heights and Ages in Dynasty Warriors 5 — everyone's reverted back to their DW3 heights and ages, which is odd. Put up a Lifespans page, which is all full of holes, listing the births and deaths of each character. The General Links page has been de-uglied, links checked, many links added, and also made more user-friendly with the addition of "Jump to" links at the top of the page.
I may possibly have something really awesome for you soon, but that depends upon the acquisition of certain things. Updates as events warrant.
July 12, 2005
Holy crap, two updates in a week. :O
I've been messing around with all sorts of stuff. Merchandise page has been updated (THERE'S A DW5 DATABOOK OMFG). Heights and Ages page has been re-organized. A page with Yale name romanizations has been added (thank you to whomever it was who suggested I put up the character names in Pinyin with diacritic marks). All Japanese voice actor profiles are up, including the ones for Dynasty Warriors 5. Aaaand, the profiles for Xing Cai and Dian Wei are done. Next up will be Diao Chan and Lu Bu. Am I awesome or what? Very awesome. Ohohoho. To keep track of which profiles I'm re-writing, I'm noting their status on the Sitemap.
I'll get around to all those submissions I've got in my inbox sometime later.
July 8, 2005
Female quiz works, and its result images have been re-done. Placeholder pages for the new Dynasty Warriors 5 characters have finally been added (no, they are not done yet, later, later). The new actors in Dynasty Warriors 5 have been added to the Japanese voice actors page, which has also been reshuffled. Ah... what else... the list of All Characters under Character Profiles now has linked pictures of all characters in addition to textual links, so it's easier to find the character you're looking for. Updated the links page a while ago, but I have even more links to add to it. I'll do that later. Have cosplay and fanart to go up too, but it's been a grueling day, I'm punching out.
June 11, 2005
I swore I'd get the rest of the update up soon, but things happened. Life is like that. My sister had a baby (she and my new nephew are doing fine, thank you), the summer semester of school started, and my friends are oddly insistent about dragging me out of my comfortably dank basement and into hot scorching sunlight.
Anyway, DW5 comes out in Europe on June 24th, according to Koei UK's DW5 website. I am jealous, their DW5 site actually has content. Feh. I am working, very slowly, on updating all the quizzes to include the DW5 characters. Only the Three Kingdoms quiz works, the other ones don't.
In other Koei news, The Magic-Box reports Koei has announced Shin Sangoku Musou 4 Moushouden (Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends). They plan to release it in Japan this September; the game will feature "new play modes." That is the ONLY information available at this point. I've added a DW5:XL placeholder page.
That's all I really needed to say.
May 28, 2005
Part two of what is now a three part update. I was going to wait and do all the rest all at once, but... well, I'm not. Let's leave it at that.
Regular fanart from RuiXiang, Mako, Idiot on Earth, Josh S., TotallyNuts, Lorena, Kunoichi, Seraphia, Satiota, and Melanie. More Yaoi from Gen. Wallpapers from ~H~, Sam M., and Angel. Cosplay photos from Melanie, Katsucon 2005, Joanna, and Noromu. And just for the hell of it, here and here is an interview with Kenichi Matsumoto of Koei, scanned from the April 2005 issue of Edge magazine (scanned by Bardiche, thankya kindly).
May 24, 2005
Maybe you've noticed that I've been fiddling with the site this past week. This is my last week of vacation before school resumes, so I'm doing an update. And not just any update, but a quite large one, involving hours and hours of work. I'm past halfway done, so let me fill you in on what's already up.
I've updated the Names section to include the new DW5 characters, and fixed most of the bastardized romanizations on the Wade-Giles page. Also put in the correct hanzi for Xhu Zhu's given name, and added in missing style names. The Yaoi section now works on the same system as the other image galleries, and we have new Yaoi fanart from Tamamo, Lorena, Melanie, and TotallyNuts. My review of the first DW game is on the Dynasty Warriors page, scroll down to see it. The Merchandise section has been updated; track listings for the OSTs and drama CDs are now available. The F.A.Q. has been rewritten. We have sitemaps in Hungarian and Chinese now; thank you Schroli and Lee Jiang. The Three Kingdoms quiz has been edited, the results have been turned into images. The other quizzes are broken while I update them. Behind the scenes, I've altered the site's design and messed with the PHP that makes the site run. I'm pleased with how it all works now.

If you can read this, YueYing.net has finally transferred to its new host. Yay! Bandwidth issues should be less problematic in the future.
The Fanart and Official Galleries are back online. Thanks again to Ms. Austin for hosting her artbook scans in the interim. ^_^ No content updates this time.
April 20, 2005
No updates this month (aside from editing the DW5 page) because I don't wanna give you people a reason to suck up more of my bandwidth. >_> Yes, it's a problem again this month. I'm working on it. Do not be surprised if in the last few days of the month YueYing.net is disabled. It'll be back on May 1st if that happens again.
Ms. Austin has offered to host the artbook and Prima Guide scans while I'm having bandwidth issues, so you can still enjoy the pics while my site is handicapped. Please be gentle with her server. You don't really need to look at each and every single pic, and if you need to see them every day save them to your harddrive. Kay? A billion thanks and free brownie points to Ms. Austin for doing this. :D
April 1, 2005
The site's been down for the last two days because of excessive bandwidth consumption. As you can see, it's back now.
Yes, I got Dynasty Warriors 5, and yes I like it very much. Read the Dynasty Warriors 5 page for my thoughts on the game.
New fanart from Tamamo, Megan, Wolf Whysperer, TotallyNuts, Jonny, Xiaocaca, Renka_SouSou, and Nate the Great. Scans from the DW5 Artbook (scanned by Ms. Austin) are up in the Gallery, along with the DW5 profile pics from the GAMECITY website. New general links (thank you Nat-chan XD), and do note that Empire Divided is not run by Jonathan Wu, as I mistakenly implied.
Stuff I don't have up for this update: The Hungarian and Chinese sitemaps. Some more Otakon cosplay pics. A couple of wallpapers. Cosplay links. The last batch of Japanese voice actor profiles. Sorry, guys. I can't stay away from DW5 long enough to get that all done. XD Next time, next time.
Also: please contact me if you're doing Dynasty Warriors/RotK/Samurai Warriors cosplay this year! There's a Sima Yi and a Zhang He going to A-Kon in Texas, who'd really like to know if anyone else is going; if you are, e-mail me so I can get you in touch with them. I'll be sending my emissary to Anime Boston with instructions to attack and kidnap all Dynasty Warriors cosplayers. And send me your cosplay pics, dammit. :D That is all.
March 14, 2005
The stolen fanfic (see last update) has been taken down! Huzzah!
I've reserved my copy of Dynasty Warriors 5. Have you? :D
March 6, 2005
Here's the story on the fanfic theft: member TotallyNuts wrote and posted Crazy Days in Wu on DynastyWarriorsFanfiction.com and Fanfiction.net in January. In February, the first chapter of the fic showed up on AdultFanfiction.net, without TotallyNuts's knowledge and consent. The AFF.net poster, anime queen, has been contacted and asked to take it down, but claims it is her own. The webmistress of AFF.net was notified weeks ago, but has not responded.
I think this is reprehensible, so I want you all to know about it and spread the word. Never post fanfiction, fanart, or any other work without the creator's consent! It's illegal, it's malicious, and it's just plain wrong. It cannot be tolerated. I am furious that AFF.net will not take this fic down; I hope the webmistress will come to her senses soon and do the right thing. If you can, please e-mail the fanfic thief and the webmistress of AFF.net and let them know you won't stand for plagarism! We DW fans have got to stick together.
March 2, 2005
Two new fanarts and a wallpaper from Chibichan, fanart from TiRaMisU, Jakusa, and Renka_SouSou, wallpaper from Pretentious. General links fixed. I have Hungarian and Chinese sitemaps to HTML and put up, and a few cosplay pics, and DW5 artbook scans from Ms. Austin, but that will have to wait for another day. I have a cold.
Anyway, more importantly, Koei news: a North American release date for Dynasty Warriors 5 has been set -- it'll be released on March 29th, 2005. An exact European release has still not been announced, but it's coming in summer, I know that much. If you pre-order DW5 online from EBGames.com or GameStop.com you will get a free Wei, Wu, or Shu t-shirt.
I've been busy with school, my friend's website, and Kessen III, which is awesome. Great gameplay (though they force you to whip through stages in under 5 minutes to get a good score), and they have English and Japanese voice options. In case you're wondering, yeah, it IS like Kessen II, but with more button-mashing during battles, and it's not quite as flamboyantly anti-historical. It has gigantic phallic helmets and everything. Overall, very enjoyable game. An excellent excuse for me not to update. XD
February 21, 2005
You may have noticed that the site wasn't working today, but it's fixed now. Good lord, the one day I take off happens to be the same one my site breaks and my chat moderators decide to ban each other. XDXD
Nah, no update today, though reports indicate Zuo Ci is the sixth character in DW5. (Note: he's a Daoist magician who appears in the novel in chapters 68 and 69. He harrasses Cao Cao. He would presumably be an Other character. I won't have a pic of him until Friday, probably.)
February 18, 2005
Poof! I reappear. Aria of Sorrow and Resident Evil 4 had their claws sunk deep in me.
New fanart from: Long-Yue, Eggsandcress, Goth Girl, Dethscithe, Renka_SouSou, Rikka, Pyromaniac Lu Xun, and PyroDragon. Two wallpapers from Angel. Diao Chan cosplay picture from Arafel. General links checked, fixed, and added.
So anyway, I'm just waiting for Dynasty Warriors 5 to be released. I can't get any further in my notes on Three Kingdoms until I know for sure how many new characters there are, so the profiles are on hold. And I'm not terribly motivated to work on the rest of the site. XP
In Koei news, they've set up a development studio in Singapore to create a Romance of the Three Kingdoms online game, which they say would be released in Asia in 2006. Fat chance we'll ever see it. *grumbles something about Nobunaga's Ambition and Uncharted Waters* Also, Dynasty Warriors PSP will be a launch title for the North American release of the Playstation Portable.
January 15, 2005
OMG! An update 8 days later.
Added pages for the other new Dynasty Warriors games in development (DS, PSP, GBA, and BB). Added voice actors profiles for Yasuhiko Tokuyama, Hiroaki Miura, Yuuko Sumitomo, Keiichirou Yamamoto, and Hirofumi Tanaka (only five more to go; then I'll have to deal with the new DW5 actors). Fanart from Jakusa. Added the new DW4 action figures to the Merchandise: etc page. That's all. Small update. It's only been a week, after all. >_>
Note that I have been, and will continue to, update the DW5 between updates, without announcing it. The info comes out so sporadically, and in such small amounts, that it doesn't really merit mention here. (ARRR, I want to know about the other new characters!! Koei, update the damn website more often!) Of all the other new DW games, I'm most excited about Dynasty Warriors Advance. I just luff 2D hack'n'slash and cute widdle sprites. XD
January 7, 2005
Every time I think life will get boring so I can have some spare time to update the site, the sky falls. o_O But I'm not updating the site to whine about my busy busy schedule, I'm updating because we know more stuff about Dynasty Warriors 5! All that I know is listed on the new Dynasty Warriors 5 page, listed in the menu to the left. I'm too lazy to type out an a href tag. XP
I wanted to have lots more available for you this update, but life gets in the way. What I have for you this time: New fanart from Nerd, endless, Jhata, Ms. Sleeping Dragon, BB, and Tamamo (under yaoi). Another cosplay pic from Otakon, and pics from Henry Tsai (sorry they've taken so long to get up). Updated the FAQ and the Sitemap. Broke up the merchandise page into several different pages and added pics. Added two new fanart links and some general links too. Added a new section to the site for the games themselves -- only Dynasty Warriors and Dynasty Warriors 5 are up so far, but I'll add more of the games eventually. Uhh... I think that's it.
Oh, and the official Japanese Dynasty Warriors 5 site has been updated, but there's really nothing there except a different Flash intro. I'd link to it, but, you know, lazy.
